Community Ensemble Theatre (CET) continues a decades-long tradition of excellent theatre at Community High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We strive to create high-level productions while providing a nurturing environment where every ensemble member is valued and supported. With more than 120 students from across the Ann Arbor school district participating every year, CET is the largest extracurricular group at Community High, engaging students with challenging, thought-provoking, sometimes off-beat, always entertaining shows in the humble blackbox, the Craft Theater.
Emily Wilson-Tobin, Director
Emily Wilson-Tobin is thrilled to be joining the CET family. She was previously the Theatre Director at Greenhills School, where she taught drama and acting, and directed productions in the middle and high school. Emily was born and raised in Ann Arbor, and much of her childhood was spent participating in theatre programs led by organizations like Young People’s Theater and Ann Arbor Young Actors Guild. She pursued an undergraduate degree at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, earning a BA in dual majors: French Language/Literature and Theatre. Following graduation, Emily spent several years living and working in the Washington, DC area. It was during her work in the Development Department at the Shakespeare Theatre in DC (now called the Shakespeare Theatre Company) that Emily was inspired to pursue an advanced degree in educational theatre. She returned to her home state and completed an MFA in Applied Drama and Theatre for the Young at Eastern Michigan University before being hired at Greenhills. Emily has been a teaching artist with multiple arts and youth-centered organizations, including Ann Arbor Young Actors Guild, Spinning Dot Theatre, The Neutral Zone, Youth Arts Alliance, and Shakespeare in Prison. She lives in Ann Arbor with her family and pets.
